System of raising chickens

These are ways that one can choose to raise chickens

1:Free Range System

This is a system where by chickens are allowed to rove around without any restriction of movement.They normally fend for themselves even though they may be provided with food and water.It cheap,labor saving and chickens

have access to grit.Although they are exposed to poisoning,theft,predators and harsh weather conditions most chickens tend to do well.

2:Deep Litter System

This is when chickens are kept in a house covered with litter.Chickens are provided with food,water and protection and chickens are not allowed to go outside the enclosure.This allows collection of manure and control of parasites.Note worthy that input costs are high and that chicken diseases are spread easily.

3:Battery Cage System Layer chickens are kept in cages where food and water are provided.They are housed for the rest of their lives.Chickens are safe from predators,theft and harsh weather conditions.It is expensive to establish,requires skill and cage paralysis is common.
