What do you need to do before your chickens arrive?

1:Repair,clean and disinfect the poultry house.This will ensures that chicks do not get injured,infected with diseases for the previous flock as these chicks are fragile.

2:Ensure that the equipment is working properly.

this will prevent delays in availability of things such as water and in winter things such as heating and cooling systems which can save the chicks life.

3:Covering the floor with litter to absorb all droppings.

4:Ensuring the feeds are available in the troughs .This ensures that chicks can start eating as soon as they arrive.

5:Ensures that vaccines are available.This makes sure that your flock does not get totally plagued and consumed by diseases.

6:Preparing the foot bath

The chicken house should have a foot bath to maintain hygiene of the poultry house,it also prevents pathogens from entering the chicken house which protects the chickens from diseases.

7:Record books should be ready

This would allow one to start keeping accurate records of the chickens stock,feeding and death rates.
